Yau graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, majoring in sound design and music recording. She later pursued advanced studies in music production in the UK and Beijing. In 2006, she furthered his education in sound design at Los Angeles, training under Sidney Fox, a sound engineer from Disneyland California. Additionally, Yau holds the following music qualifications:
- Performance Diploma and Music Theory Analysis Diploma from Trinity College London
- Film Music Diploma from Beijing Film Academy

Growing up in a musical family, Miss Yau began learning piano and singing at the age of three. She is proficient in playing various instruments, including the keyboard, bass guitar, Chinese bangdi, clarinet, and ukulele, among others.
Yau has been teaching for more than a decade, and her areas of expertise are professional singing lessons and playing an instrument. She is quite good at employing a range of instruments and participatory music training, which is different from typical teaching approaches. This method makes it simple for kids of all ages to participate, engaging their senses and brains. It helps pupils improve their musical ear abilities by offering them thorough and entertaining sensory integration training as well as physical coordination activities.

Yau has completed studies in child music psychology, music therapy, and music pedagogy. She has been engaged in the field of children’s music education for over ten years and has served as a course instructor for early childhood music classes. She also has extensive experience teaching children with special educational needs.
