Graduate of Renowned Institutions, Studied Under Internationally Acclaimed Instructors

Loo began studying piano with 杜蘭夫人 at the age of five. In 1965, she entered The Juilliard School on a scholarship and studied under Adele Marcus. After obtaining her master’s degree there, she continued her studies in Europe, training under Vlado Perlemuter in Paris, France, and Guido Agosti in Italy. She later studied at the Royal Northern College of Music in the UK under the guidance of Berghuis and Winton. In 1976, she won the championship at the Rina Sala Gallo International Piano Competition in Monza, Italy. Additionally, she has received awards in several competitions, including the Marguerite Long International Piano Competition held in Paris.

    Unique Teaching Methods

Loo is dedicated to promoting modern music and has participated in several editions of “Musicarama” and the recent “International Modern Music Festival”.

Loo has mentored many students who have become renowned musicians or pianists, including Lincoln Lo (a famous music producer), Kajeng Wong (winner of the Alaska International Piano-e-Competition), and Ronald Ng (a prominent music producer, composer, film score artist, and founder of the Success In Music Charity Foundation).

Recently, Loo has focused on developing music education, as she firmly believes that music can change lives and bring color to existence. She has stated: “Music allows for boundless imagination and inventiveness; via music, I may feel the innocence of being eight years old.”

In her teachings, she enjoys encouraging students to experience the rhythm and emotions of music through physical movement. Unlike most piano teachers, Loo does not require her students to take exams; she believes that teaching children music involves not only prompting them to practice but also spending a lot of time listening to music or sharing musical experiences with them, allowing them to cultivate interest and enjoy music throughout the learning process.

Loo currently serving as a part-time lecturer and course developer at the following institutions:

    • Baron School of Music
    • The Chinese University of Hong Kong
    • Hong Kong Baptist University
