Innovative lyric-writing style
During his high school years, he wrote for the adolescent magazine “Yes!“. He was recognized by a Hong Kong author Joe Nieh, who introduced him to Mark Lui Chung-tak, and thus became a core member of Lui’s production team, “On Your Mark.” Yan’s first publicly released work was “Touch” by Sammi Cheng, which was included in the album 《很愛很愛》 in 1999. Yan has written over 400 pieces and has extensive experience writing lyrics. He is extremely responsive and can finish a song in a short period of time. His works have been praised for their novelties and daring use of language.
